Exploring the Islands

On Wednesday Struan took a group from Loch Spelve on a private charter to explore some islands. The first stop was to see the Corryvreckan Whirlpool and into the Bay of Pigs on Jura for a coffee stop on the beach. For luch they headed to Scarba and had a picnic on the Pier. After lunch Struan took them up to the Island of Belnahua and dropped the anchor. Belnahua used to have a slate quarry and nearly 200 workers on it. The last part of the journey head to the Garvellachs to see the old Monastery but with a freshening SW wind they decided not to go ashore. As they left Eileach an Naoimh a Basking Shark was spotted next to the boat. The group headed across the Firth of Lorne and into Loch Spelve to finish off the day they saw Golden Eagles above the boat.
