Castles and the Corryvreckan

Coastal Connection had a two day charter for a local family. They had friends up from the south to visit and attend the Argyllshire Ball, and wanted their guests to see a bit more of Scotland than just from the shore.
We picked 9 people up on Tuesday lunchtime and although the weather wasn’t great, it did clear in the afternoon to provide some great views. The first day of the trip was very busy and included a trip round Lismore looking at many Castles and places of interest. Our passengers disembarked on the island for a late lunch. Following this, we powered round to the Falls of Lora. The tide was really ebbing and a strong 8 knots showed as we went under Connel Bridge.
Eriska Hotel were very kind by allowing us to use their new pontoon (as seen above) for pick up and drop off. A long afternoon but some fantastic views and great sights were seen.

The next day we picked up from Eriska again and ran down to Cuan. On the way we made stops at Seal Isand, Oban and Gylen Castle. The cloud was very low at times but the sea was flat calm. Once at Cuan we picked up a couple more passengers and headed round to the Corryvreckan. The whirlpool was on full display with some standing waves and currents running. After the Corryvreckan we headed back to Loch Feochan to drop the guests off at the head of the Loch for a dinner party.

It was a busy couple of days with many miles covered and lots of fantastic sights.
