The Old Forge, Knoydart

This was a superb weekend. The Waverley paddel steamer was doing her annual tour around the West Coast. We had 10 passengers for the overnight trip to Inverie. We left Oban at 0930 and headed for Tobermory. Bacon rolls were eaten as the Waverley came in, then we followed her out of the bay and past her as we went round Ardnamurchan Point. We arrived at Inverie at 1300 and the weather could not have been better for the trip. The new pier allowed us to drop the passengers off and tie up for the night. It was a great sight to see the Waverley come into Knoydart and The Old Forge provided great food, drink and shelter from the midges. The next day we set off at 1200 bound for the island of Eigg. The weather was flat calm with no wind and a lot of sun giving us a great view of some porpoise a mile off the Island. We had a great lunch at the tea room there just up from the slip. The final leg of the trip was back round the Point and down to Oban and our arrival time was 1630. It was a great trip and all of the guests really enjoyed themselves.

"I want to thank you for the professional, courteous and friendly manner you extended to me and my fellow travellers."

-Robert Jenkinson
