Tour of Glensanda Quarry
Yesterday Struan was lucky enough to be invited to the Offical ”Yeoman Bontrup return to service” event at Glensanda Quarry. The Bontrup which can carry up to 97,000 tonne of gravel was destroyed by fire on the 2nd of July 2010 at Glensanda and has been brought back to service. The entire Bridge and accommodation block was removed and totally rebuilt. A massive task which took over one million man hours! The tour went all round the ship and into the massive engine room which produces over 21,000 horse power!! Struan also got a tour of the quarry to see the future developments and how it all works. The view from the top was outstanding able to see Jura and even Staffa over Mull.
