Longest Weekend

As the longest day came and went the weather was perfect over that weekend. This was very lucky timing as a large wedding took place on Tiree. Most of the runs back and forth to Tiree were smooth. On some of the transfer the guests spotted a range of wildlife such as common & bottlenose dolphins, minke whales and sea eagles. Could not have been a better weekend for a wedding.

New Vessel 'Hyskeir'

The Coastal Connection team have added to their fleet. Hyskeir is a cabin Redbay Stormforce 11. A great addition that gives the business more availability to their clients The cabin provides more shelter especially in the winter months. The colour isn’t in keeping with the rest of the vessels but stands out. As always she has a slightly different layout than the other Redbays and will suit a variety of jobs. She will be seen in both the commercial and tourism sectors.
Special thanks to Robbie, Michael, Lee and everyone that has helped with the refit of her.

Royal Visit

The 294 metre MS Queen Victoria arrived in Oban recently. It was incredible to see a vessel that size anchored off Kerrera. Over 2,000 passengers and some of the 900 crew came ashore. She is 50 metres longer than the Glensanda bulk carrier Yeoman Bridge that is often seen towards Lismore. The Coastal Connection team were delighted to work with Cunard Line taking their guests out to see local sights and wildlife. The weather was ideal for her visit.

Hebridean Transfer

On Thursday evening Cameron was asked to transfer a guest to the luxury ship Hebridean Princess. The passenger was delayed so couldn’t make the scheduled departure. Cameron rendezvoused with the ship at Bunessan as she anchored for the night. As the winds freshened from the SE Cameron decided to head north round Mull. A wee bit longer but a smoother run. Journey time was 4.5 hours to complete the transfer and circumnavigate Mull.

In The Nick of Time

Struan had a private charter for the day, departing from Oban and heading towards Coll. He soon found out the guests had lunch booked in Tobermory for 1230. They were very keen to see a whale too. With Struan’s knowledge and a fair bit of luck he manged to get a Minke half way to Coll. The weather was ideal for being on the water and for spotting wildlife. After a lovely lunch they headed back down the sound seeing eagles on the way.
