Last week the team were tasked to manoeuvre a 27 meter wide and 32 meter long tidal device called PLAT-I for Sustainable Marine Energy Ltd. The platform needed to be moved from Dunstaffnage Marina Ltd pontoons to the hard standing where cranes lifted on the Schottel Hydro Turbines. The work had to be completed on spring high tides as the work area dries out at low water. Schiehallion and Fingal were perfect; Schiehallion has a shallow draft and jet drives which allows for great manoeuvring in the shallow water. Due to the time of high water work was completed in the dark but went without a hitch.
