Covering the miles

Today (29th of July) we had two half day charters.

The first charter was for the Queens Hotel in Oban. We left Oban at 1000 and headed for the blues skies which was sitting over the head of Loch Etive. A smooth run up and down the loch with some great views. After coming back into the Firth of Lorne the wind had picked up from the West, so we headed down to Castle Stalker passing Appin. When we headed up the NW side of Lismore we were in luck as we passed the Yeoman Bridge. She is a massive rock cargo ship owned by the Glensanda quarry (holds 100,000 tonnes). Then we carried on and had a look at Duart castle on the way back to Oban. A great morning on the water.

The next trip was a pick up from LA (Loch Aline) where we picked up 7 customers. The wind had dropped and we headed off up the Sound of Mull. They wanted to see Ardnamurchan Lighthouse and Glen Gorm Castle. As we saw both of the sights 2 basking sharks popped up next to us. It was great to see them so close to the boat and as we powered down to Tobermory for dinner we saw another 4 making it a really special trip for the customers! A wee stop in Tobermory for dinner was ideal after such a great voyage up (thank you very much for dinner). The wind had dropped to a breath as we motored down the sound. 2000 we arrived back in LA and dropped the cutomers off.

It was a great day with lots of different weather conditions and sightings of wildlife.
